Historic Castroville’s Old Fashion Christmas
is held on the first Saturday of every December. There is no
entrance fee for the event, which is sponsored by the Castroville
Area Chamber of Commerce. Over 200 vendors provide a wide
variety of gifts and arts and crafts as well as an abundance of food
and drink to satisfy everyone’s appetites. Guests are able to
sample everything from traditionally American to Mexican to Alsatian
fares. Entertainment throughout the day features dancers, music
groups, gymnastics, local choirs, antique cars, a train for children
to ride, Scottish Bagpipes and Drums, and much more. Santa will
also pay his annual visit at 1:00 p.m. Children will have the
opportunity to talk to Santa and have their pictures taken with him.
Top off the day with a leisurely stroll through the town to view the
historic homes and churches, visit the antique shops, dine at one of
several fine restaurants, and stop at the local bakeries for some
Christmas goodies.
