Sloyd & Croft is a faith based, hands-on Microschool for budding creatives, who are naturally wired for innovation. In addition to the 3 R’s, daily work in traditional woodworking, boat building, platen letterpress printing, and more, provides the challenges that hone problem solving skills, promote collaboration, develop innovation, and build community. Emphasizing more than skills, the Sloyd method seeks to cultivate 12 habits necessary to excel in life, whether that’s in business, college, or service in the church or military. Curious creatives enjoy personalized instruction, daily outdoor adventures, and an engaged community of professional craftsmen, artists and entrepreneurs.

In this video, I sat down with Nicole Rodriguez, the director of New Beginnings Children’s Home (NBCH), a general residential facility for children ages 5 to 17. NBCH is a safe and therapeutic living environment for abused, neglected, and displaced children. NBCH was created in response to San Antonio’s rising child abuse problem. The great thing about their program is the ability to focus on each individual child and build relationships that leave a lasting impression.
